An unconventional car campaign, with a road trip narrative.
For a small shoot from Pre-production, to shooting, to post, this project took a lot of effort. Starting with a large amount of planning. Mood boards, finding talent, finding a vehicle, discussing looks, scouting locations, and scheduling, the list goes on... Scouting alone took a few days, I checked out countless parking garages around Denver to find the 3 we ended up using. (Scouting Shots Below)
The country side locations were so open, with little shade, it would have made it hard to control light later in the day. So the whole thing was shot in reverse. First shooting our country side locations, just after sunrise to catch golden hour. Moving to our city spots throughout the late morning/afternoon.
One of my favorite parts of my job is lighting. But Figuring out how to light tight spaces, (like the inside of a car) can be difficult. solution Light it from outside.
For the shot on the right (and any of the similar tight interior shots), we popped up a strobe w/ a 48 inch octabox over the hood. And to diffuse it even more shot it through a large scrim held just over the windshield. Which in many shots I had to later photoshop the scrim out.
